Kiro IDE 1.2.4 adds background Workflows and workspace safeguards

The September 30, 2026 release of IDE 1.2.4 adds reusable multi-agent Workflows that can run in the background while users continue in the parent chat. Each workflow step runs in a separate agent session; users can inspect progress, open steps, and pause, resume, or stop a run. Workflows are disabled by default and must be enabled in Workspace Configuration under Agent Focus or through kiroAgent.workflows.enabled in Settings, then started in a new chat. The update also adds confirmation prompts before Kiro changes agent, Hook, or Power files and workflow recipes in .kiro/workflows/, even when broader file permissions permit writes. In untrusted workspaces, Kiro asks before other configuration changes and each command, while recipes remain unloaded until the workspace is trusted. The changelog also identifies enterprise controls for sign-in methods.
