HydraFusion research preview expands to VS Code and Copilot app

GitHub has expanded the HydraFusion research preview from Copilot CLI to Visual Studio Code and the GitHub Copilot app. The feature appears in each product’s model picker and coordinates multiple models, choosing a workflow based on signals about reasoning, coding, debugging, and tool use. Its three patterns are direct solving by one model, a cascade that can hand work to a stronger model after a quality check, and a draft followed by independent review and one revision.

VS Code users need version 1.140 or later, or VS Code Insiders; the GitHub Copilot app must be updated to its latest version. HydraFusion is available to Copilot Pro, Pro+, Business, and Enterprise users, though Business and Enterprise administrators must enable preview features. GitHub says this release adds clearer workflow visibility and more frequent progress messages, and the feature remains a research preview that may change.
