Morgan & Morgan pledges $1 billion for AI, plans to offer its platform to other firms

Personal injury law firm Morgan & Morgan said on Sept. 14 that it will invest at least $1 billion in technology and AI over the next 10 years and aims to make its in-house AI platform, MX2, available to other law firms by invitation by the end of 2027.

The Orlando, Florida-based firm said close to $500 million of that total is planned for the next five years, following $300 million it says it spent on technology and AI over the previous five. MX2, which the firm says its own engineers built, has nearly 5,000 monthly active users, according to the announcement. Its components include an agent for case insights and trial preparation, a document drafting tool, medical record extraction and semantic search across case data.

Bloomberg Law reported that the platform automates work such as pulling medical records, retrieving police reports and generating demand letters, and quoted chief transformation officer Yath Ithayakumar as saying attorneys make all final decisions. Founder John Morgan said in the announcement that AI will almost entirely replace hourly work such as drafting and reviewing agreements, but not trial advocacy.

The spending and usage figures are the firm's own. The ABA Journal noted that a federal judge in Wyoming sanctioned Morgan & Morgan lawyers in 2025 over a motion citing eight nonexistent cases, some of which appeared to have been produced by AI.
