Anthropic rebuilds Claude Code Projects around parallel agent threads

According to Anthropic's announcement, a user describes a goal and the coordinator scopes the request, hands work to threads, reviews what comes back and assembles the result. Each thread is an independent Claude Code cloud session working on its own branch. Threads can open pull requests, run tests and start subagents of their own. A shared memory keeps project details and decisions available to every thread, and a project library collects uploaded files and the artifacts Claude produces.

Threads run only in the cloud today. Anthropic said support for running them on a user's own machine is coming very soon, that more Claude Code users will get access within a week, and that Team and Enterprise plans will follow. A waitlist is open, and existing projects keep working during the rollout.

The company acknowledged that running several threads at once can use up plan limits faster, and said users can track per-project usage and choose the model and effort level. The Decoder noted that the design advances Anthropic's push toward autonomous coding while likely raising token consumption. The capabilities described are Anthropic's own claims and have not been independently tested.
