AI lobbying revenue neared $112 million in first half of 2026, analysis finds
Washington lobbying firms reported nearly $112 million in revenue from clients with a stake in AI policy during the first half of 2026, according to a Bloomberg Government analysis of federal disclosures. Almost $60 million of that came in the second quarter, which the outlet called a record.
Bloomberg Government, which published the analysis on Sept. 16, named Microsoft, Anthropic, Meta Platforms and Nvidia among the top-spending clients. It linked the increase to the debate over AI regulation in Washington and to the approaching midterm elections.
The half-year figure approaches the full-year total for 2025. Earlier reporting by the same team, published by Bloomberg Law in March, put 2025 AI lobbying revenue at almost $130 million, including a then-record $37.2 million in the fourth quarter.
Holland & Knight, which the article said had the third-highest AI-related lobbying revenue last quarter, noted that two of its attorneys were quoted. According to the firm's summary, one said several relatively easy measures could be bundled into broader legislation if Congress acts soon, and the other said companies are moving quickly to secure a voice in the process, driven partly by liability concerns.
